Skill Assessment
Dribbling
1️⃣ out of 🔟
- Not very strong here yet. Needs more reps. For his potential size (which I’m tracking to be immense 📈), it will be imperative for Finn to get a proficient handle in order to work down low while also being comfortable at the perimeter & creating a threat there.
Shooting
1️⃣ out of 🔟
- Finn wants to shoot, which I like. I love it actually. Basic form principles will need to be taught (base + shooting form), but layups will work just fine for Finn at his height. His jumping ability paired with some fine tuning and reps will get him on track to be a great offensive threat. Also needs to understand where and when to shoot.
Passing
4️⃣ out of 🔟
- No pertinent marks, middle of the road passer. Has immense potential to be an amazing playmaker alongside that handle if improved via rebounds and quick outlets.
Defense
4️⃣ out of 🔟
- Great size, has to learn how to use it. His on ball defense—being able to stick to smaller and/or quicker ball handlers—will be a high commodity in the future. Will have no issue with protecting the paint. Needs to be patient and know how/when to block shots—as an untimely foul can be consequential.
Rebounding
2️⃣ out of 🔟
- He needs to attack the ball and make his presence felt on the boards. Also, to drive it home: Finn’s playmaking ability for the Gladiators in transition via outlet passes would offer a plethora of offensive opportunities (and easy double-doubles).
Game IQ & Communication
7️⃣ out of 🔟
- Finn reminds me a lot of myself in the way I process information—talking through it, asking clarifying questions, analyzing worst case scenarios, and looking to understand why a decision is made or an action happens. It truly impressed me that though this was a new team, new concept, new coach, and he allowed himself to be meshed in. He understands the mechanism of basketball—which is where many coaches glance over to teach. Finn gets it. Now he has to catch his body up.
